What is Restorative Dental Care?
With restorative dental care, we aim to restore the normal function and appearance of your smile.
At Cornerstone Dental with Dr. Clark, our dentists can repair structural problems such as missing or damaged teeth to help restore your smile – and your oral health.
Depending on your issue, we will determine the appropriate restorative option for you.
Same-Day Restorations
CEREC® technology is used to create and place porcelain crowns, inlays and onlays in a single appointment with the goal of restoring your smile. No impressions or temporaries necessary - just mess-free, metal-free, tooth-coloured restorations in one convenient visit.
Dental Crowns in Vernon
Used to attach bridges, help prevent a cracked tooth from worsening, or cover dental implants, crowns are placed on top of teeth to assist in restoring their function and appearance. These porcelain caps can also help to restore a stained or discoloured tooth.
Dental Fillings
A cavity or damaged tooth is repaired with a composite (tooth-coloured) filling. These filings are generally natural-looking and can withstand moderate pressure from the continual stress of chewing. They can also be used on front and back teeth.
Full & Partial Dentures
These artificial teeth can replace one missing tooth or consecutive teeth (partial dentures), or an entire jaw of missing teeth (full dentures). Dentures help patients who are missing teeth maintain their facial structure, and speak and eat properly. They also help prevent other teeth from becoming misaligned.
Dental Bridges
Bridges are custom-made, natural-looking tooth replacements which are bonded to dental implants or existing teeth to replace a section of missing teeth. They can restore the natural contour of a tooth, as well as the bite between upper and lower teeth. They are made to fit the patient's mouth precisely.
Inlays & Onlays
When a tooth is too severely damaged for a standard dental filling, our dentists at Cornerstone Dental with Dr. Clark use inlays and onlays to help repair cavities, typically on molars or pre-molars. These tooth-coloured porcelain fillings are custom-made in a dental laboratory, then permanently cemented to the tooth as a single piece.
Root Canals
Diseased blood vessels, nerves, and tissues must be removed from the interior of a tooth to prevent further dental issues. To accomplish this, your dentist performs a root canal to remove bacteria and decay. This procedure can halt the spread of infection preventing the need for an extraction.
Periodontal (Gum) Therapy
Gum disease can infect the tissues of the mouth, including the gingiva, gums, alveolar bone, periodontal ligament and cementum. If the disease is caught in its early stages, your dentist will recommend non-surgical preventive therapy. Otherwise, the type and severity of disease will determine treatment methods.
TMJ Disorder Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is a hinge which joins the temporal bones of your skull to your jaw. The disorder of this joint can lead to a host of issues with your jaw and facial muscles, including pain. Our dentists can detect, diagnose and develop a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder.
